I have an electric shut off notice for this Friday. Does anyone know of some programs that can assist with this? I was laid off but found a new job and do not get paid for 3 weeks and AEP will not wait that long.

Hi waterfront75,
You might try calling 1-866-674-6327 between 8am and 6pm Eastern Time. That is the number for National Energy Assistance Referral (NEAR). They can direct you to a local agency that is part of a grant program to assist low-income households meet their immediate home energy needs.
Catholic Charities also helps with utilities. They help anyone who qualifies financially - you do not need to be Catholic. Catholic Charities of Michigan can be reached at 734-223-1844.
Hope this is helpful.
God Bless.
